SAFFORD — The search is continuing for a missing special needs woman.

Liberty Salazar, 21, was last seen near her family’s mailbox at her home near Cactus Ranch Road and U.S. Highway 191 on Jan. 23.

“She told me she wanted to go outside because it was snowing. (She wanted to) see the creek with the snow and play in the snow,” said Scarlet Donaldson, Salazar’s mother.

Donaldson said Salazar has been diagnosed as autistic with epilepsy, which makes her endangered and at risk for harm.

She was last seen wearing black, pointy-toed cowboy boots; a Puma hoodie; a plaid shirt; blue jeans; and a pink wrist watch.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 928-428-3141.

“If anyone sees any activity online from her, or if they think they see her, they don’t have to identify themselves. They can just call the Sheriff’s Department anonymously, or 911 anonymously, if they don’t want to be involved,” Donaldson said. “Of, course, if they want to give their information, if they think they’ve located her, then we need them to call the Sheriff’s Department.”

This is not the first time Salazar has wandered away from home. She went missing for four days over the Independence Day holiday weekend in 2019, eventually being found in good health in a Gila Valley house.
