More than $2.3 million in payments for local roads and communities has been received by Sheboygan County within the first quarterly payments of 2023 transportation aids from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Governor Evers along with the DOT announced statewide payments on Tuesday, more than $134 million overall. Of that, Sheboygan County along with its townships, villages and cities will receive $2,300,615.91. For calendar year 2023, a total of more than $526M is to be sent to local governments for support of transportation-related projects, a two percent increase over calendar year 2022. According to Tuesday’s announcement, total funding for all local programs makes up almost one-third of the state transportation budget.
In making the announcement, Governor Evers said that “We will continue to work together with our local partners to ensure Wisconsinites have safe, reliable transportation and infrastructure to maintain our economy’s momentum.”
