UC Announces Construction Start Date For New Athletic Facility

The Bearcats are raising their athletic prowess to a Power-Five level.

CINCINNATI — The Big 12 Day One Ready Campaign is coming together, and so are plans for a new indoor athletic facility.

UC athletic director John Cunningham met with the media on Tuesday to introduce TQL as the new stadium sponsor for the football program.

Cunningham confirmed that the new facility is getting shovels in the dirt this winter.

"As we pursue our goal of being day one ready for the Big 12 conference, this partnership, and this type of commitment from TQL, is vital to our future success," Cunningham said. "Our Day One Ready Campaign is a $100 million fundraising campaign, which now has raised north of $80 million in commitments. At the center of that campaign is a signature facility, a best-in-class practice facility and sports performance center. That facility breaks ground this winter, and this type of corporate support and buy-in from TQL and others makes that happen."

Construction will begin in the next couple of months, right around or before the start of spring football practice. It's a massive part of being a relevant player in the Big 12 space.

All of the Power-Five madness is starting to come into focus, especially with the 2023 football schedule getting released on the day Cunningham introduced TQL.
