The Transylvania County Board of Commissioners is asking for public feedback during an upcoming hearing about a proposed economic development incentive grant for a hospitality investment company called Project Moon.
Public benefits of the capital project include a total taxable investment by Project Moon of at least $75 million in real and business property through 2025. The project would create 128 full-time jobs, at an average wage of $45,531, which exceeds Transylvania County's average wage of $42,179 for full-time employment.
The contemplated incentives would last for a period not to exceed (8) years. Based on the investment, the number of new employees and the board’s incentive guidelines, the maximum amount of incentives to be considered in this grant over the total period is expected to be valued at about $2.3 million.
The public hearing will be held during a regular meeting of the Transylvania County Board of Commissioners set for 4 p.m. Feb. 13. in Multipurpose Chambers at the County
Administration Building, 101 S. Broad St. in Brevard.
In addition to the public hearing, the board could approve the incentives and may approve and enter into, or authorize the county to enter into, one or more economic development agreements with respect to Project Moon.
If approved, the grants would be funded through the county’s general funds.
