Worcester Ranked in Top 10 Worst Cities in U.S. to Get Married

Couples looking to tie the knot in Worcester may want to consider eloping.

According to the latest report from the data and finance experts at WalletHub, Worcester is in the top 10 worst cities in the U.S. to get married.

The report — 2023’s Best Places to Get Married — ranks Worcester #175 out of 182 cities listed from best to worst to get married in. Worcester ranks in Top 30 cities for highest costs, worst attractions and fewest facilities and services.

Overall, Worcester ranked higher than only Oxford, Cali., Bridgeport, Conn., South Burlington, Vt., Yonkers, N.Y., Warwick, R.I., New Haven, Conn., and Pearl City, Hawaii.

The best city to get married in? WalletHub says it’s Orlando, with Las Vegas and Tulsa, Okla. rounding out the top three.

According to WalletHub, couples spend an average of around $28,000 on their wedding and the industry brought in $62 billion in revenue in 2022.

To find the most wedding-friendly destinations, WalletHub compared the 182 biggest U.S. cities across 20 key indicators of cost-effectiveness, convenience and enjoyment. Their data sets ranged from average wedding cost to venues and event spaces per capita to wedding vendors.
