Previously we reported that Marcus Coloma last aired in the role of Nikolas on Thursday, January 26, and now we can confirm that Adam Huss will be stepping into the role to finish out the character’s Port Charles scenes, starting on Tuesday, January 31. For those who weren’t aware, the network and Coloma had agreed that it was best that he didn’t film the last remaining few days of his storyline, due to health issues following Covid.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen Huss in the role. The actor stepped in for Coloma in September 2021 and once again for a few more episodes in November 2022. Since then, Tyler Christopher, who created the character in 1996, voiced interest in filling in should another temporary recast be warranted, and stated in an Instagram story, “I’m available if Marcus Coloma needs a day off… just sayin’.”

So, what’s ahead for the character and those close to him? As previewed in last week’s issue of Soap Opera Digest, Nik brings Carolyn to Spring Ridge to make sure Esme’s amnesia remains permanent. However, when it’s revealed that Esme is pregnant, Carolyn refuses to do his dirty work. “The buck stops there,” stated Denise Crosby. “She’s not going to cross that line and wreck someone’s life the way she feels like she wreaked her daughter’s.” Nikolas is then forced to take other actions and informs Esme that he’s the father of her baby — not Spencer.

So fans, there’s still more drama to be had for Nik (shocker!) and with that, we welcome Huss back to the role and we’re excited to see him in Port Charles once again.
