Who are the girls basketball Player of the Year candidates in the BCSL?

In all corners of New Jersey, players have stepped up early on and put themselves in a position to be known as the best in their area. NJ Advance Media breaks down who the top stars are at this point and which players are in the running for Player of the Year in all 15 conferences.

Jada Jacobs, Medford Tech, Sr., G

Jacobs leads Medford Tech in every offensive category and leads the BCSL in scoring, rebounds and steals. She’s averaging 20.7 points, 10.2 rebounds, 6.5 steals and three assists per game. She’s posted 13 double-doubles this season and matched a career-high 40 points in the second game of the season as Medford Tech is 13-4 and undefeated at 6-0 in the conference.

Gabby Loftin, Florence, Sr., G

A four-year player, Loftin is averaging 23.4 points, 4.5 steals, 3.8 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. She has scored in double-figures in every game but one, has scored over 20 points nine times and dropped a season-high 35 points in a loss to Medford Tech on Jan. 10.

Payton Arnold, New Egypt, Sr., G

Arnold, a four-year player, is averaging 17 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.7 assists per game for New Egypt. Currently 157 points away from 1,000, she has scored over 20 points six times this season and posted a season-high 31 points in a loss to Willingboro on Jan. 3.

Riley Ahrens, Delran, Sr., G/F

Ahrens, who recorded her 1,000th point earlier this season, leads Delran in every offensive category this season. She’s averaging 17.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.4 blocks, 3.0 steals and 1.5 assists per game. She’s posted four double-doubles and finished with back-to-back 30 point games against Seneca and Trenton Catholic.

Cadence Anderson, Palmyra, Jr.

Anderson, who leads the team in scoring, is averaging 16.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.4 steals, 2.8 assists and 1.4 blocks per game. Anderson, who is 277 points away from 1,000, has scored over 20 points five times this season and scored a season-high 25 points in a win over Florence.

Brooke Sztenderowicz, Cinnaminson, Sr.

The senior leads the team in scoring with 13.1 points per game. Currently 164 points away from 1,000, she has scored over 20 points five times and scored a season-high 26 points in a win over Westampton Tech as Cinnaminson is 17-2 and undefeated in the Liberty Division.
