Black Ice on US 87 Causing Multiple Rollover Crashes

 

SAN ANGELO, TX – Multiple rollover crashes have been called this morning on US 87 in Tom Green County keeping first responders busy.

According to scanner reports, on Jan. 31, 2023, more than 5 rollover crashes have occurred in Tom Green County from Grape Creek and Wall on US Highway 87. Luckily, as of now there have been no major injuries.

The crashes are continuing from where they left off last night. In a post by the Grape Creek Volunteer Fire Department on Jan. 30 they confirmed multiple crashes.

"Multiple vehicle accident rollovers are starting to occur in Tom Green County due to icy road conditions. Please stay off the roadways if all possible," stated the GC VFD's Facebook. "WATCH OUT & SLOW DOWN for the First Responders working at these traffic incidents."

Road conditions are not expected to get better today. Drivers are being advised to stay off the highway if possible. If you do go on the road remember to not use your cruise control, do not speed, and anticipate your stops.
