Keanu Reeves has suggested that a fifth John Wick film is in doubt.
With the fourth instalment of the popular franchise due to hit screens in March, fans were hoping for part five to follow soon afterwards, especially since initial reports suggested John Wick 4 and 5 would be shot back to back.
Keanu Reeves, who plays the title character, told Total Film: "You have to see how the audience responds to what we did. The only reason we've had a chance to make these movies is that people have liked what we have done.
"So I think we have to wait and see how the audience responds to it. Hopefully they'll like it."
The fourth instalment in Chad Stahelski's action thriller series about a vengeful former hitman was held up partly due to the Covid-19 pandemic and also Reeves's commitments to the Matrix films.
As well as the new film, there is a forthcoming three-episode miniseries. Prequel The Continental will star Mel Gibson and Colin Woodell, who will play a younger version of John's friend Winston, the owner of the hotel chain frequented by members of the underworld.
Ian McShane will return as the older Winston in spin-off Ballerina, starring Knives Out's Ana de Armas as an assassin seeking revenge.
Directed by Len Wiseman, best known for the Underworld series, it will also feature an appearance by Reeves.

"Len Wiseman has a vision, but is also embracing, affectionately, the world of John Wick," Reeves continued. "I felt that there was a cool handoff of stewardship, and it was fun to put the suit on again, however briefly."
Praising his co-star, Reeves added: "Working with Ana was great. She really loves action, and she's really good at it."
So there's still plenty for John Wick fans to enjoy, and neither the star nor the director are ruling out working together again.
Stahelski, whose upcoming projects include a Highlander reboot and a Ghost of Tsushima movie, said: "You might have to give me and John Wick just a little break. Ask me in a couple of months."
John Wick: Chapter Four opens in cinemas on March 24. The previous John Wick movies are available to buy or rent on Prime Video, plus DVD, Blu-ray and 4K Ultra HD.
