Despite a hitch in negotiations this morning, Chelsea are now becoming increasingly optimistic a deal can be agreed for Enzo Fernandez before the deadline tonight.
Chelsea currently have a delegation in Lisbon in order to try and close the deal. Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are not taking no for an answer from Benfica.
The decision will lie with Rui Costa and the Benfica board, but Chelsea have quiet confidence they can get the deal done.
According to David Ornstein of the Athletic , Chelsea are now optimistic a deal can take place for Enzo Fernandez before the window shuts tonight.
Benfica have granted Chelsea permission to do the medical for Enzo in Lisbon tonight if a deal can be agreed. It would speed up the process as the club need to get it done before tonight's deadline.
Chelsea are now confident a deal can happen and are expected to only focus on Enzo in the next few hours.
There were reports Chelsea would make a move for Marcel Sabitzer but he is at Munich airport right now on an apparent flight to Manchester.
Chelsea have had Enzo as their number one target since the beginning of the window, and there is a delegation in Lisbon right now working on getting the deal over the line.
Enzo Fernandez has already agreed to join Chelsea. It is now up to Benfica to give the green light on the deal, and then the medical can be done.
