HENDERSON, Ky (WEHT) – Officials have released the names of seven officers involved in the west side Walmart shooting on January 19.
Police say Ronald Mosley II, 25, entered the store while employees were in the break room for a meeting and shot Amber Cook in the face. Another employee was able to escape and call 911, and according to Sergeant Anna Gray, officers arrived about 4 minutes after the call and immediately entered the store.
Police say Mosley shot at officers inside and outside of the store, and was shot and killed by officers after he was told to drop his gun. The following officers involved in the shooting have now been identified:
- Captain Brent-Hoover – Former SWAT Team Leader until 2015 and K9 Handler from 2001 to 2018.
- Sergeant Trudy Day – Promoted as sergeant in 2012, and current sergeant over third shift motor patrol. Former detective in both juvenile and financial crimes units and served as EPD’s Grant manager.
- Sergeant Michael Condiff – Promoted as sergeant in 2020, and currently a supervisor over dayshift motor patrol. Former field traning officer prior to his promotion.
- Sergeant Crystal Thomas – Promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2022. She has been with the EPD’s negotiator team since 2009. Currently assigned as a sergeant over second shift motor patrol. Thomas was a detective with gang/intel unit for eight years and worked in motor patrol for over ten years. While in motor patrol she was a field training officer. Thomas is a Crisis Intervention Officer and an instructor with South Western Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.
- Sergeant Jared LaFollette – Promoted to the rank of sergeant in 2022. Currently assigned to second shift motor patrol. Has also worked as a field training officer and crime prevention officer.
- Detective Nickolaus Henderson – Det. Henderson was hired on EPD in February 1992. Detective Henderson is currently a crime scene detective and was previously a K9 handler for 17 years.
- Officer Michael Rose – Hired on EPD in March 2021, Office Rose is currently assigned to south sector second shift motor patrol.
Officials say more than 90 officers from the Evansville Police Department, the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, and several other agencies, responded to the scene and none of them were injured.
