Pedestrian killed in Jefferson Township Route 15 crash

A 78-year-old Wharton man was killed Monday after being struck by a car in Jefferson Township, the township's police department said.

Wilson Noriega was hit by a car while crossing Route 15 North near Taylor Road at about 2:13 p.m., authorities said. The driver remained on scene.

As a result of the crash, Route 15 was closed for several hours Monday. The investigation is still ongoing.

The Morris County Prosecutor's Office is assisting with the investigation.

The fatality happened the same day a pedestrian was also struck and killed in Glen Rock.
