Red-Hot Aho:Starting Sunday's scoring, Sebastian Aho beat Linus Ullmark on a breakaway for his seventh goal in four games. #20's 44 points in 42 games now pace the team on the season.
Burns' Point Streak:Playing in his 1,300th NHL game on Sunday, Brent Burns registered another assist, bringing his total to now five consecutive games with a point. His 34 points pace all Carolina blueliners this season, and his 26 assists lead the team.
Freddie's Back:Goaltender Frederik Andersen stopped 24 out of 25 shots on Sunday, earning his 10th win of the season. Now 5-0 since returning from a lower-body injury that had him on the shelf for over two months, Andersen's .934 save percentage since January 12th ranks fourth among all NHL goaltenders that have played five games during that time.
Doesn't Matter Who:With Andersen earning his 10th win yesterday, the Canes became the first team in NHL history to have three different goalies record 10 wins through the team's first 49 games of the season. Besting the previous record established by Tampa Bay during the 2010-11 season, the Lightning did so in 60 contests that year. It is also just the 14th time in any NHL season that a team has had three netminders with 10 wins each.
Defense From Offense:The Canes are tied with the Florida Panthers for the most goals from their defense this season, receiving 32 through the team's first 49 games. Brady Skjei has produced eight of them in the last 25 outings, the most by any blueliner in the league since December 1.
Making A Point:Carolina's 72 points ties the most through the team's first 49 games in any season in franchise history.
Going Back To Back:Rod Brind'Amour's club opens their eighth out of 14 back-to-back sets this season tonight. Taking on Buffalo tomorrow night, the Canes are 4-2-1 in the first game of back-to-back sets this season.
On The Other Side:Los Angeles comes to town for their final game in a six-game road trip, putting a bow on their pre-All-Star schedule against the Canes. The Kings have scored 166 goals thus far this season, which ranks them inside the top 10 in the NHL, but they've also allowed 177, which ranks them inside the top 10 for the most allowed, league-wide. Kevin Fiala has been a bright spot for the team this year, leading the club with 52 points. After struggles early in the season for Cal Petersen and Jonathan Quick, Pheonix Copley has taken over as the team's number-one netminder, now with a record of 15-3.
