According to the National Weather Service in Marquette, wind chills of -20 to -30 were observed away from Lake Superior in the Upper Peninsula. The coldest temps in the U.P. were tracked in Wetmore and Wakefield at -24 degrees.

More weather is on the way, too.
“Bitter cold wind chills of 20 below to 35 below zero are expected across much of Upper Michigan this morning so please dress warmly when venturing outside today,” the NWS said.
“A trough moving in later tonight will bring more lake effect snow showers to the Copper County and far eastern U.P. shoreline areas tonight into Wednesday. The passage of an Arctic cold front will result in blustery conditions and lake effect snow showers and blowing snow for the northwest wind snow belts Thursday into Friday.”
Meteorologists are stressing the importance of covering exposed skin when temperatures are this low.
