Notre Dame Offer Leaves 2024 WR Kwazi Gilmer Smiling For Days

Notre Dame’s coaching staff dropped by Chaminade College Prep (Calif.) last week to check on a few prospects, including 2024 receiver Kwazi Gilmer‍ and 2024 safety offer Marquis Gallegos‍.

The 6-foot-2, 180-pound pass catcher quickly found out Notre Dame receivers coach Chansi Stuckey was impressed with him as Gilmer added an offer from the Fighting Irish on Monday morning.

“The receivers coach hit me up and told me to call him when I was walking into class,” Gilmer told ISD. “I called him and he said I had an offer from Notre Dame. I told him not to play with me. I didn’t want to cry because I was at school, but I’ve been smiling all day in all my classes.”

Gilmer will do his research on Notre Dame in the coming days, but he already knows the power of the university on and off the field.

“I know what a blessing it is because I’m an under the radar receiver.” explained Gilmer. “I know a lot of people who have Georgia offers and all that, but I’m way better than them. For a school like Notre Dame to offer - it’s a school very big on education, which is important to my family because that’s a big thing in my recruiting process.”

2024 Notre Dame quarterback commit CJ Carr‍ will also be heavily involved with Gilmer’s recruitment if he’s not already.

Carr and Gilmer are on the same 7-on-7 team and will see plenty of each other over the next few months as they travel the country with California Power.

“I was talking to the quarterback, CJ (Carr), and I was like I need that Notre Dame offer,” laughed Gilmer. “He said he was going to try and literally the next day Coach Stuckey was at my school with all the coaches.”

The duo has only played one tournament together, but Carr made quite the impression on the California native.

“Earlier this month was the first time I ever met him,” stated Gilmer. “We needed a quarterback and CJ comes - the five-star Notre Dame commit. From the get-go, Cj and I were connecting and we kept on bonding. We killed the whole night with all of us. It was really fun.

“CJ is a really cool dude. Once you get to know him, he’s really funny and I really mess with CJ.”

Stuckey and company will now compete with several West Coast programs to get Gilmer to the Midwest as Arizona, UCLA, USC, Washington and Washington State are heavily involved.

And it might be easier than some would think as Gilmer is more than open to any school if the fit is right.

“To be honest, I don’t care where I go,” Gilmer explained. “I can do snow, rain or sun. All I care about is finding a home. This recruiting process is fun, but at the end of the day, I want this to be over so I can come play football.”

Gilmer does want to get to Notre Dame for a visit, but it will likely be for an official visit as his spring schedule will be busy.

“I’d probably take an official to Notre Dame,” Gilmer said. “I have a lot of 7-on-7 stuff so it makes it busy during the weekends. It’s just hard to fit everything in at once. If I get the time, I might take an unofficial.”

When it comes to a commitment date, Gilmer is taking his time and isn’t in a rush, but admitted the offer from Notre Dame was a game-changer.

“It’s still early for me to decide,” said Gilmer. “I still have to see how my recruitment goes, but Notre Dame is definitely a top school for me.”
