Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence was named to the 2023 Pro Bowl Games, replacing Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes, the NFL announced on Tuesday.

Lawrence is the second Jaguars player to be named to the Pro Bowl, joining return specialist Jamal Agnew, who was named to the games as an alternate on Monday.

Lawrence's invite comes after multiple QBs dropped out of the Pro Bowl either due to injury or otherwise, including Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa, who remains in the league's concussion protocol.

Tagovailoa was reportedly the AFC's first alternate.

The AFC's initial Pro Bowl roster listed Mahomes, Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen and Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow. Allen also dropped out, according to the NFL, due to injury, which enabled Ravens backup QB Tyler Huntley to join the fray.

Lawrence completed 66.3 percent of his passes for 4,113 yards, 25 touchdowns and eight interceptions en route to an AFC South title and a playoff appearance this year. Lawrence also ran for 291 yards and five rushing touchdowns.

He completed 60.47 percent of his passes in two games of the postseason for 505 yards, five touchdowns and five interceptions.

In his second season, Lawrence made one of the largest statistical jumps in NFL history from his rookie season to now, posting a 71.9 quarterback rating in 2021, to a 95.2 quarterback rating in 2022.

Lawrence's major jump came after the team hired Doug Pederson to be its next head coach, while Jacksonville also signed receiver Christian Kirk and Zay Jones along with tight end Evan Engram, who all enjoyed career years this past season.

Lawrence is the third QB in team history to earn Pro Bowl honors, including QBs Mark Brunell (1996, 1997, 1999) and David Garrard (2009). He is the 32nd Pro Bowler in franchise history.

The 2023 Pro Bowl games will take place in Las Vegas beginning on Thursday, Feb. 2. The players will compete in various skills challenges, while the event will culminate with a seven versus seven flag football event.
