MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WV News) — If you’re looking to get out of the house and bid farewell to Dry January, head over to Kegler’s Clubhouse Wednesday for the Blue Jeans and Bling Bartending Battle.
It’s the clash of the titans: The legal team vs. the banking team vs. the real estate team. Which one will be victorious? Well, that’s up to you.
Teams of two will battle it out in a bartending challenge from 5:30-8:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at Kegler’s Clubhouse.
Teams include:
- Team #1 — 5:30-6:15 p.m. — Amy Armentrout and Tina Spangler
- Team #2 — 6:30-7:15 p.m. — Tammie Alexander and Bobbie Conklin
- Team #3 — 7:30-8:15 p.m. — Leigh Ann Bryan and Chris Dang
Tip your favorite bartender(s) in person at the event or through the text-to-give option. Simply text BLUEJEAN to 91999, click the link, pick the team you want to tip and then make your donation.
And you don't have to wait until Feb. 1 to tip. The text-to-give option is available now, so if you already know your favorite team, give them a jumpstart.
Teams will be sporting pieces of jewelry – the “bling” in Blue Jeans and Bling – from Jacqueline's Fine Jewelry during the event. If one of these pieces is purchased, Jacqueline's will donate 15% of the proceeds to the United Way.
Broadcaster Amanda Mazey will serve as the emcee and will announce tip totals throughout the evening.
Bartending for team one is Armentrout and Spangler, who both work for MVB. Armentrout is the banking center manager for the bank’s Sabraton and Suncrest offices. She has been with MVB for 6 years and is an avid sports and live music fan.
Spangler is the north market leader at MVB, where she just had her 10th anniversary. She is a wife and mom to two girls, Cora and Livy, and her entire family loves to get outside and enjoy the community.
Team two is made up of Alexander and Conklin, who represent Steptoe & Johnson PLLC. Alexander is the chair of the Business Department. Alexander, who was last year’s United Way Campaign Chair, is proud of the mountains moved during that campaign and wants to continue supporting United Way with this bartending challenge. In her free time, she enjoys being Gigi to Michael and Isabella DeMedici.
Conklin is the director of business development for Steptoe & Johnson and has called Morgantown home for over 25 years.
Why does she want to participate in Blue Jeans and Bling? “I’m a drink pusher,” Conklin said, laughing. “Ask any of my friends and they will tell you the same thing, and now I am excited to push drinks for a great cause, the United Way.”
Conklin is a board member for Mon Health System and a former board member for the United Way of Mon and Preston Counties.
Rounding out the teams are two Realtors from J.S. Walker Associates, Bryan and Dang. In addition to her Realtor role, Bryan is the director of training and recruitment at J.S. Walker. When she's not assisting buyers and sellers, she enjoys time spending time with her kids, Jack and Everly. She also enjoys traveling, hiking, biking and yoga.
Bryan is a member of Cheat Lake Rotary, vice president of the Ridgedale Athletic
Association, an active board member of her HOA, and is a regular volunteer with several organizations in the Morgantown area.
Dang is a full-time Realtor at J.S. Walker and sits on various boards and committees that govern Realtors at the local, regional and state level. When he isn’t helping members of the community reach their real estate goals, he enjoys spending time with his family. He has been a volunteer with Star City Volunteer Fire Department for the
past 14 years, and continues to share his knowledge and experience with new members. Dang keeps things exciting by traveling whenever he can and scouting out new restaurants to try.
Who will win by earning the most tips for their team? Only you can decide. Text BLUEJEAN to 91999, and pick your favorite team.
Proceeds from Blue Jeans and Bling benefit the United Way 2023 Campaign. The United Way of Mon and Preston Counties’ annual campaign funds 36 programs at 27 agencies in the two counties, as well as internal programming such as the Helpful Harvest Food Program, WV211, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, and the Family Resource Network.
