Washington Demon wrestling couldn’t crack the top half of the team standings at Saturday’s Southern Iowa Classic in Fairfield, but all seven Washington wrestlers that participated did medal to help the Demons take fifth as a team.

Washington was led by a pair of tournament winners. Sophomore Aaron Boone pinned an opponent and earned the technical knockout twice to claim another tournament title at 120 pounds and raise his record to 37-3. Junior Chase Greiner went a perfect 5-0 on the day at 160 lbs, picking up four pins and winning a 1-0 decision on his way to taking home a championship belt and improving to 40-9. Demon freshman Caden Greiner was the runner-up at 132 lbs, dropping a 7-1 decision to Fairfield’s Zach Westercamp in the final but still pushing his overall record to 36-7. Senior Jack Kleese also took second at 138 and won three of his four bouts, while sophomore Nate Edmonds was third at 106 and sophomore Jace Sanders and senior Curtis Stender both finished fourth at 113 and 195, respectively.
