One person is dead and another was injured after an SUV crashed into a light pole and utility box in Summerlin Monday night, according to Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
The collision was reported around 9:09 p.m. on Charleston Boulevard west of Hualapai Way, LVMPD said in a statement.
Investigators believe that the 23-year-old man was driving a 2017 Jaguar F-Pace east on Charleston, with a 21-year-old woman as a passenger.
At some point, the SUV veered to the right and went off the street, colliding with a reinforced light pole and utility box, according to LVMPD.
Both the driver and passenger were taken to UMC, where the driver was pronounced dead.
Police described the passenger's injuries as moderate.
The driver's death marks the 13th traffic-related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction so far this year.
