Penn State tweets of the day

We start with an update on former Penn State defensive tackle PJ Mustipher. The multi-time All-Big Ten pick has drawn strong early reviews at the Shrine Bowl, which is one of the all-star games on the path to the NFL Draft. The onetime Nittany Lion has drawn rave reviews from media analysts so far and caught up with Steelers Depot about his experience so far.

“My physicality and my competitiveness — I’m not going to stop; you’re going to have to block me for 60 minutes,” Mustipher said. “My willingness to compete, coming from Penn State, I love to compete with the best. I was a two-time captain for a reason along with guys that are already in the NFL.

“I love to challenge myself and get better against the best, and that’s why I’m out here.”

In other news, the Penn State strength staff has picked its Iron Lions of the Week from the first week of winner workouts. The winners were guard Saleem Wormley, defensive end Chop Robinson, and safety Kevin “KJ” Winston.

Finally, for this section, Penn State picked up its first Class of 2025 commitment on Monday. The Lions landed On3 Consensus four-star offensive tackle Jaelyne Matthews from Tom Rivers, N.J.

“I knew it was time,” Matthews told BWI. “I had this gut feeling and a peacefulness about my decision. This was the right timing for me I’m not the type to follow people’s trends.”

Quote of the day

“It’s a real unique place and I’m happy I was able to get up there and see it for myself. I was able to watch the wrestling match on Friday night, and they take it very serious up there. I’d say that was one of the highlights; seeing the entire community gather to support.

“Outside of that, it was your standard junior day tours, pictures and meetings. I shook some hands and started to build relationships. Beaver Stadium would probably be the highlight of the day. It was real cool. Any time you can get on the field at such a great venue and envision yourself there always gets me excited.”
