According to Paul Joyce of The Times, the 23-year-old will miss the Premier League encounters against Wolves, Everton, and Newcastle United, and possibly the huge Champions League first leg clash with Real Madrid.

The Reds are already missing Virgil van Dijk who picked up a similar problem during the defeat at Brentford at the start of January and is not expected back for another two weeks.

That leaves Joe Gomez, Joel Matip, Nathaniel Phillips, and Rhys Williams, who has returned from a loan spell at Blackpool, as the remaining options for Klopp in the centre of defence.

There had been speculation that Phillips could make a move before the transfer window closes with Galatasaray reported to be leading the race , so it remains to be seen whether Konate's injury will have an impact on the the 25-year-old's future.

Liverpool continue to be without Arthur Melo, Roberto Firmino, Diogo Jota, and Luis Diaz who are also sidelined through injury in what is proving to be another problematic season for the club.
