Drunk Parma woman drives wrong direction in construction zone: North Royalton Police Blotter

NORTH ROYALTON, Ohio

Drunken driving: York Road

On Jan. 8, police observed a weaving black Buick Encore driving the wrong way in a construction zone on York Road with its high beams on.

Due to construction, the road only allowed one-way traffic heading west. The Encore was heading east, causing other drivers to move between construction barrels to avoid getting hit.

While talking to the Parma driver, who had her driver’s seat reclined nearly flat, the officer smelled booze.

The woman said: “Hello, I’m good. How are you?”

When asked if she knew she was headed the wrong way on a closed street, the woman came clean. She told the officer she was hoping to avoid him.

Despite the fact that the woman said she was headed home, the Buick was going the wrong direction.

The driver admitted to being at a West 130th Street bar, where she said she had one drink. She also handed the officer her credit card.

After failing a field sobriety test, during which she lost her balance, she was arrested for drunken driving.

The woman was also cited for driving on a closed road.

Warrant: York Road

On Jan. 8, police observed a black SUV on York Road whose owner came back with a warrant.

Asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, the woman said, “Absolutely not” before admitting to having a dab pen in her pocket.

During a search of the SUV, police found a marijuana blunt in a cigarette box.

The woman was arrested on the warrant and held for transport. She was also cited for drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.
