Marion County Humane Society President Leslie VanderLinden tells KNIA/KRLS News the facility is operating at full capacity.

Currently there are 40 dogs ready to be adopted and around 30 to 35 cats. The cat numbers are normally higher but they recently ran a special which brought the numbers down.

A few of the dogs who are looking for homes include a Red Heeler, Boxer, three or four Hound Dogs, a few dogs with Pitbull mix and eight puppies among those on hand.

VanderLinden tells KNIA/KRLS News, “We are completely full so we have probably 40 some dogs for adoption. Cats, we’ve had a lot of cat adoptions because we had a special and a sponsor. So that’s helped reduce that population, but we still have plenty.”

The Humane Society is currently in need of help. They are looking for a kennel technician to clean, provide food and water for the animals and give them baths, as part of the job.
