Bowling: Results from the first annual Battle at Bristol Tournament

Howell girls bowling, Burlington Township boys bowling, each won the Battle at Bristol at Bristol Pike Lanes in Pennsylvania this past weekend.

Each team, nine boys teams and seven girls teams, bowled three games. The top six boys teams moved into the Baker playoffs while the top four girls teams advanced.

Burlington, which tallied 3,034 to get the No. 1 seed, defeated Truman (Pa.) in the final, 390-337. Brick Memorial defeated Jackson Memorial in the Baker first round while Toms River East beat Howell.

Burlington then beat Brick while Truman topped TRE to move on to the final.

On the girls side, Jackson Memorial, the No. 4 seed, upset top-seeded Brick Memorial in the Baker first round. The loss for Brick Memorial is its first in any match and any tournament since 2021.

Howell also got past New Egypt in the matchup of No. 2 vs. No. 3, and then defeated Jackson Memorial in the championship by just three pins, 318-315.

Brick Memorial tallied 2,963 pins in qualifying. Leah Varela paced the girls with a 717 series while Howell’s Jake Diaz threw a 727 to lead the boys.
