St. Bonaventure is down a resident following Monday’s episode of The Good Doctor.
TVLine can confirm that Season 6’s 11th episode, “The Good Boy,” marked the final appearance by recurring guest star Savannah Welch, who was introduced last fall as surgeon-in-training Danica “Danni” Powell.
Chief of surgery Dr. Audrey Lim was forced to fire Powell after she attempted to carry out an unsupervised operation on an old Navy friend with supplies she stole from the hospital. Asher, who guided Powell through the procedure prior to Lim’s arrival, was placed on a two-month probation.
Powell had shown a pattern of disobedience during her brief tenure at St. Bons, and refused to recognize her own mistakes. Her insubordination resulted in a combative relationship with direct supervisor Shaun, as evidenced in the medical drama’s 100th episode. After firing her, Lim offered the surgical hopeful a piece of advice: “You’ve got to learn to compromise sometimes,” she said. “If you don’t, it’s going to hurt you — not just as a doctor, but in life.” But headstrong Powell insisted that she’d done the right thing because her friend survived, and she was willing to live with the consequences of her actions.
Welch was one of two recurring cast members added to The Good Doctor at the start of Season 6. The other, Brandon Larracuente, was promoted to series regular just four episodes after he was introduced as fellow first year Dr. Danny Perez.
As previously reported, The Good Doctor‘s March 6 episode will double as a backdoor pilot for prospective spinoff The Good Lawyer, starring Nancy Drew‘s Kennedy McMann and Desperate Housewives‘ Felicity Huffman.

‘Bout time she’s gone. Tired of her “better than everyone because I was in the military” attitude and her total lack of regard for anyone else in the hospital. Should’ve been fired months ago.
Not a loss
agree, i didn’t care for the character at all
She was one of my favorites on The Good Doctor. I’m still in shock and hoping they somehow find a way to add her back into the show !!!!
No way!! She’s THEE worst character so far in the whole 6 seasons!! And that’s saying something!! She thinks she knows it all and just because she’s disabled then tries to make everyone else suffering a disability, like her, for example, dr.Lim she put her off the surgery and trying to mould her into a version of herself! She’s controlling and manipulative, and she thinks she’s better than anyone else!! Thank god she’s leaving!! Wish Shaun would have stuck to his guns early on and fired her then!
Really sick of this show and the cast exits. Really getting annoying now
Simple. Don’t watch the show. Don’t read articles or posts about the show. Don’t post your own negativity about the show. Problem solved.
Lol whatever
yea seriously. are you dumb, terri?
Interesting way to write her out. I liked the back and forth between her and Lim this episode – would’ve been interesting to see more of that dynamic had she stuck around.
.
The storyline with Shaun and Lea and Buddy, though. Aw. Good for the family that they got their dog back, but I felt for Lea having to say goodbye. I’m glad she and Shaun were able to help save the dog.
I liked Danni. But it just seemed like she never fit.
I doubt that I will miss her.
David Shore must be very hard to work for. Both this and House had staggering cast changes.
She was a recurring character. The actress wasn’t fired, this was her arc as it was conceived. Regarding House, most actors stayed the whole run other than Jennifer Morrison (fired as the cast was too large and expensive), Olivia Wilde (wanted to do movies which bombed) and Lisa Edelstein (wanted more money, decided to walk out).
Forgot Kal Penn that went to work for Obama.
Sad to see her go. Her character opened up story line with Lim to see disabled people in a broader and positive light.
Absolutely loved Shaun, Lea, Glassman and dog storyline.
Yes, will miss. Dr. Danica Power! You have to have one rebel in the bunch!
I will not miss her she just didn’t seem to fit in with the group. Loved the dog story tonight now Shaun and Lea need to adopt a dog it seemed to calm them both down and they were happier.
My favorite character this season, largely after her stint on TITANS caused me to investigate her real-life story and admire her tenacity. I’m pulling for her to get a new role somewhere that isn’t planned to be short term. (Obviously, the role was always planned to end this way, so people blaming it on the producer or the actress are unaware how TV is made.) If there’s the slightest chance she’ll make a return, I hope it’s mot just a one-shot.)
Danni was great and I, for one, will miss her persona!
This episode annoyed me to no end.
Good gosh.
That doctor just bugged me, honey your friend was shot! How the hell do you not take him to the hospital? Then she gets the other guy involved! And he gets in trouble, too. I didn’t even remember her character when she appeared.
I get that Lea is pregnant and emotional but good grief! 22 thousand dollars for surgery? And then they don’t even pay or keep the dog?
Just a dumb episode. The only good story was that they got to save the gardeners’ arm.
Dr. Glassman paid for the dog and it was clear the dog was loved by the young boy. Lea said they’d work something out to pay them back. Maybe that’s why Shaun needs the Good Lawyer. They don’t pay up.
It’s already been stated that Shaun will need a lawyer because he’s being sued for malpractice! It has nothing to do with the dog
Good to know. Where did you read that?
here on TV line a few weeks back. The lawyer is going to have OCD and I forget who plays her, but Felicity Huffman will make her come back playing the lawyer’s mentor. And like I said it didn’t get into the specifics but Sean is going to be sued for malpractice, and watch her as his lawyer because of her disability.
It is easier to get into medical school than veterinary school. Most schools favor student of the state the school is located in where they possibly participated in farm programs. Therefore there is a shortage of vets compared to physicians. Also, doctors treat one type of animal. They treat DOZENS. Therefore the high price. ANd it 22K bothers you go into surgery in a hospital and check out your bill. I had prostate cancer the bill was $99000. Medicare didn’t pay that but that goes to show you how the medical indistrial complexes have taken over. In my area, metro NY there are maybe FOUR hospital systems because the hospitals are buying out smaller hospitals and they are doing it as pushback against fighting insurance companies. That’s why most western countries have free health care. They ay higher taxes but they don’t go bankrupt or die because they put off procedures/medications.
I like the fact that this show at least attempts to portray some things that do happen in real life, in this case, turnover in staff at an urban hospital.
Fresh faces sometimes help a show’s longevity. Yes, I do miss Claire (Antonia Thomas) and will miss Danni but I don’t mind changes that aren’t real predictable and keep the viewer’s interest in following a series.
I agree. BTW if you want to see Antonia at her fabulous best watch Love Sick (originally called Scrotal Recal) On Netflix. She is spot on, fabulous and of course very beautiful. And her English accent is a testament to how good her American accent was
I agree and saw that series years ago long before The Good Doctor. That was a very good show and Antonia was excellent.
Find her really weak in Scrotal recall, maybe she was depicted to be the straightman in the show, but the 2 guys and the other love interests of the main guy were always more interesting than her.
Let me guess they already ripping off Korean show Extraordinary Attorney Woo iAutistic Good Lawyer. How fk pathetic especially since woo is still relatively new.
To be clear, “The Good Doctor” was officially licensed, not “ripped off,” And while I had hoped for better, realistically I knew the US show was destined to be just another long-running medical drama with a revolving door cast, albeit one with a lead on the spectrum.
As far as “The Good Lawyer” not much info has been officially released. I doubt they would do a direct Extraordinary Attorney Woo rip-off….and I haven’t heard anything about it being licensed to develop a US show.
The Good Lawyer has nothing to do with EAW, the protagonist has no ASD, she has OCD, as the actress herself.
And the story is not meant to be camp either.
As a person with a real life physical disability (cerebral palsy) I was thrilled to see a real life person with a disability on the show treated as a person. The character is obviously brought on to help Dr Lin handle her temporarily paralysis, which was also realistically done. I’m sad that the character is gone because I’d love to see people with disabilities on television regularly, but I don’t think they would have been much story for at this time. Maybe she can come back as Linn’s friend and get a second chance. Either way, I’m a bigger fan of the show because of their realistic portrayal with people with disabilities and of the actress
Agree with so much. And will miiss Dr Powell’s perspective. Especially since her difference was just one part of her story (in some ways, that was done better w her than with the title character)
My own ailments are invisible but still led to years legally disabled. And impact every day. But…and it’s bc I fought tooth and nail…it isn’t my everything
It may not be my story, but any storyline re someone w a disability (physical can actually be more taboo…especially certain treatment used for the intended purposes bc no other solution is in reach despite many docs trying many ideas, some multiple times, and still trying) is helpful. Esp when they are charging through life — facing obstacles, prejudices, and setbacks but still going as opposed to insurance fraud or true addict (there’s a story in both, and a medical problem in the latter, but it’s a different one).
Highmore is wonderful. I remember remarking on the talented young boy in Finding Neverland. But it’s always great to see people who share the daily knowledge representing. And being strong actors period, not “strong disabled actors ” (notable here w an actress working on both s8des of a disabling event).
It shouldn’t be so rare that Facts of Life and Life Goes On remain common examples….heck, many of yall weren’t alive for either!
The show should end all I’m doing after this episode is watch reruns I can’t continue to watch, Is helm even coming back? Greys Anatomy with no grey just make a spin off with April and Jackson
You’re on the wrong article. This is about The Good Doctor, not Grey’s Anatomy.
Screw your clicks, TV Line. Even redacted, you know damn well that headline is a spoiler for people who haven’t seen the episode yet, which is many by the time you posted this. Saw the headline over on Deadline with no reasonable expectation of running into a TV spoiler. Do better.
All tv sites do this after the episode has aired. If you don’t want spoilers, then don’t read any of these tv entertainment sites, until you’ve seen the episode. It’s ridiculous to expect these sites to not post recaps/reviews after a new episode has aired, just because some people MIGHT not have watched it yet.
I love the show. Glad the character was temporary; a temperament like hers has no place making decisions in that capacity
That would be a hard NO we will not miss her. After she reused to do a surgery with the pig heart and she untied the patient with mental issues and would not try to get along with Shaun. I would have fired her the minute she refused the do the surgery to transplant the pig heart to save someone
No will not miss her she wasn’t someone who actually stood out
I won’t miss her since I don’t remember ever seeing her before this episode.
I am a fan. Ok she didn’t follow the rules but his life is saved. If that was you who lived or your child, would you care about hospital protocols? Sometimes you just save people for their sake!
Yes, I would. Protocols are there for a reason, patient safety. You can’t have doctors being insubordinate, especially residents. It doesn’t matter that she was in the Navy. She is a RESIDENT. She’s still learning. She hasn’t actually completed her training yet to become an attending, which means she’s still under a senior doctor’s supervision. She’s in no position to be disregarding protocol, because it’s her friend and she was “in the Navy.” This is exactly why most hospitals do not let family or friends operate on each other.
It stinks and she was so much better than the other new doctor
Agree!
