CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WV News) — William “Bill” Carl Rogers, 84, of Clarksburg passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born on December 27, 1938 in Clarksburg, WV, son of the late Dempsey Deforest and Garnet Marie Hyde Rogers.
Bill retired from William R Sharpe Jr Hospital with over 30 years of service. He also worked at Hickman Signs for over 40 years.
He was a member of Clarksburg Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, watching baseball especially the Pittsburgh Pirates, riding bikes, watching westerns, walking his dog, Cocoa his chocolate Lab, and eating peppermint candy. His joy was his grandchildren, family and he was so proud of them.
Bill is survived by his one brother, Gary Rogers and Marcia, Jane Lew; special sister-in-law, Melinda Elliott, of St Mary’s; special brother-in-law, Charles Messman, of Clarksburg; two children, Sharon Louise Joyce and Jay, of Moatsville and Russell Lee Rogers and Melissa, of Mount Clare; nine grandchildren: Anna Louise Pinion and Christopher, Kevin Jarrod Hedrick and Brittney, Jennifer Lynn Perryman, Adam Charles Davis and Mandy, Joshua Ryan Ganoe and Mishayla, Rachel Lauren Powell and Ryan, Courtney Danielle Rogers and Justin, Gloria Diane Rogers, Rustie Lee Ann Rogers, and Hannah Brooke Rogers; 21 great grandchildren: Jacob, Jeremiah and Kelsi, Julia and Shane, Connor, Carley, Silas, Bradley, Shelby, Charlotte, Alaina, Kaylin, Ayden, Axton, Zander, Aveah, Wyatt, Aaliyah, Jessica, Jaxson, Gracie, and Noah; three great great grandchildren, Christopher, Keenan and Inverson; son-in-law, Rick Hedrick, of Haywood; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Louise Messman Rogers on November 9, 2003; two children, Constance JoAnn Hedrick and David Morales Davis; and three siblings: Robert “Bob” Rogers, Sue Reynolds and Charlotte Rogers in infancy.
The family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home, 124 Olen Thomas Drive on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 3-7 p.m.
Funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at noon.
