Netflix has delighted fans with the first tease — a tantalising poster — of its live-action series One Piece, an adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga.

The official Twitter account for the series tweeted the poster on Monday (January 30), confirming that the series would "set sail" in 2023.

"Adventure is on the horizon! ONE PIECE sets sail in 2023. Click Remind Me to add it to your list," the account wrote.

The poster teased the live-action version of the protagonist, Luffy, who dons the iconic straw hat as seen in the manga. The story, which was first published in 1997, follows Monkey D. Luffy — a boy whose body takes on the properties of rubber after accidentally eating a Devil Fruit.

Luffy and his crew of Straw Hat Pirates pirates then search the seas for deceased pirate king Gol D. Roger's treasure, which is known as the One Piece, in order to become the next King of the Pirates.

Little is known about what direction One Piece will go in, but it's likely that the series will cover the East Blue arc from the One Piece manga, which sees Luffy start his journey and assemble his pirate crew.

Iñaki Godoy will play the lead role of Luffy, while Mackenyu will play Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd will play Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson will play Usopp, Peter Gadiot will play Shanks, and Taz Skylar will play Sanji.

This isn't the only major manga live-action adaptation heading to Netflix. Last month, the streaming service revealed that it has ordered a movie adaptation of the classic manga City Hunter.

Netflix's One Piece is set to air in 2023.
