Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's newest villain Damon Hay tries to do a runner next week as his criminal activity comes back to haunt him.

Damon has been playing a risky game by using the Bistro to discreetly receive deliveries of drugs. This scandal recently led to the departure of Damon's son Jacob, who was framed as the culprit behind the dodgy dealings.

In next week's episodes, Bistro boss Nick Tilsley continues to reluctantly help Damon, who has been blackmailing him in recent weeks.

Nick calls Damon to let him know that a new delivery of drugs has arrived.

Shortly afterwards, two masked men enter the restaurant and point a gun at Ryan Connor, ordering him to hand over the drugs.

Ryan is terrified by the situation, while schoolboy Sam Blakeman ducks underneath a table to call Nick. Just as Nick answers, he hears a gunshot coming from the Bistro.

Nick, Leanne and Damon all rush over to the Bistro, fearing for the lives of Sam and Ryan.

The police aren't too far behind, complete with a sniffer dog to search the premises. There's a sense that the game could finally be up for Damon.

Later in the week, policeman Craig Tinker assures Leanne that two men have been arrested under suspicion of being the gunmen.

Desperate to tie up loose ends, Leanne phones Nick and urges him to get rid of the drugs before it's too late.

Nick orders Damon to pick up the drugs, threatening to flush them down the toilet if he doesn't.

Damon complies, taking the hold-all of drugs from Nick and putting it in his car boot.

As Damon gets inside his vehicle and prepares to leave, police sirens are heard. Will Damon manage to make a getaway?

Whatever happens, it won't be the last we see of Damon as Corrie bosses recently revealed that he's here to stay for a while.

Show producer Iain MacLeod told Digital Spy and other press this month: "As the year goes on, Damon has a magnetic attraction for a notable high profile female character, who ends up having her head turned. That has far-reaching consequences.

"We're currently working on June storylines. There's a build-up and a colossal explosion in that story, involving Damon and this love story that will be on air then."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
