Zoe Ball was replaced on her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show today (January 30).

Vernon Kay stepped in for the veteran DJ, who had fallen ill and missed the first show of the week.

Posting on Twitter, Zoe explained she had Covid. She shared a picture with Vernon and Rylan, writing: "so i've got covid… but good news is ya man @vernonkay is looking after y'all."

The former Strictly: It Takes Two host added she would be "back soon", including a red heart emoji.

For his part, Vernon confirmed he'd be temporarily replacing Zoe while she recovers. He also joked he's struggling with the 5am wake-ups.

"Couple of mornings on @BBCRadio2 coming up!!" he wrote on January 29.
