West Forsyth's Cale Ewing is voted SBLive Georgia Athlete of the Week

Congratulations to West Forsyth’s Cale Ewings, the winner of SBLive Geogia’s Athlete of Week award as voted by Georgia high school sports fans.

Ewing collected 97.76% of our state-wide vote after he had two pins and placed in the state duals.

Here are all the other athletes that were nominated for Jan. 16-21:

John Avitabile, Central Gwinnett Boys Basketball

Avitabile made the game-tying free throw to force overtime and made the game-winning 3-pointer to give his team the win over Discovery in OT.

Jalayzha Williams, Northeast Girls Basketball

Williams showed out in Northeast’s 87-15 blowout win over Rutland. She finished with 24 points and eight rebounds. 

Shadae Thorpe, Northeast Girls Basketball

In a blowout as significant as 87-15, its bound to have multiple stellar performances, Thorpe ended with a near triple double of 21 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. 

Kaleb Cooper, South Paulding Boys Wrestling

Cooper is going into the state tournament riding a 12-match win streak and a 33-6 record. 

Marcus Gillespie, Clarke Central Boys Basketball

Gillespie led his team with a game-high 34 points and added in six rebounds to win the City Championship.

Morgan Jenny, North Gwinnett Girls Swimming

Jenny won titles in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke, in addition to swimming on a Gwinnett County meet-record breaking 200 medley relay. 

Jamichael Davis, McEachern Boys Basketball

Davis flirted with a triple-double in the win over Oak Ridge (FL). He finished with 23 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. 

Lavonta Ivery, Thomson Boys Basketball

The Junior joined the 1K club over the weekend after a 30-point performance. 

Quin Jackson, Social Circle Boys Basketball

The 6’0 guard finished the game versus Eastside with 19 points and the standout stat, 17 rebounds. 

Kamonta Durden, Washington County Boys Basketball

Durden went for 17 points, 14 rebounds and five assists in a thrilling one-point victory over Baldwin. 

Javaun Pittard, Oglethorpe County Boys Basketball

Pittard had a 30-point double-double with 10 boards and added on two steals and assists in a matchup versus Midland Valley (SC). 

Morgan Jenny, North Gwinnett Girls Swimming

Jenny won titles in the 200 individual medley and the 100 breaststroke, in addition to swimming on a Gwinnett County meet-record breaking 200 medley relay. 

Zyere Edwards, St. Andrew’s Boys Basketball

Edwards led the charge with 30 points, six steals and five assists in an 82-20 win over Pinewood. 

Aaniyah Allen, Elbert County Girls Basketball

Allen scored 21 points and hauled in three rebounds in the blowout win but her biggest stat was the eight steals. 

Grace Ridley, Dalton Girls Basketball

Ridley had yet another dominant performance, this time in a win over Cass. She finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, five steals and a block. 

Kendall Davis, McIntosh Girls Basketball

Davis showed out in a win over Gainesville, she had a 25-point, 11-reboung double-double and chipped on defensively with two steals. 

Lucy Hood, Rabun County Girls Basketball

Hood was a hooper in Rabun County’s win over Athens Christian. She finished with five boards, six assists, and three steals. 

Myla Benton, Greater Atlanta Christian Girls Basketball

Benton had a double-double of 21 points and 10 rebounds while also dishing out four assists in a win over East Forsyth. 

Jadon Yeh, White County Boys Basketball

Yeh dropped 41 points last week in a big win over Lumpkin County. 

Jarvis Wright, Charlton County Boys Basketball

Wright went off in a huge blowout win over ATCO. He finished with 29 points and six steals on seven made threes.

Caylee Simpson, Carver Girls Basketball

Simpson earned her triple-double the hard way, with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 10 steals.

Courtney Ogden, Westminster Girls Basketball

Ogden went for 29 points in a big time win over Holly Innocents. 

Lyric Green, Dodge County Girls Basketball

Green’s double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds helped her team achieve a record of 15-1.
