Jack Branning has tried to manipulate Lily Slater over her pregnancy in EastEnders.

The truth is now out to the Branning family about Ricky Jr fathering Lily's child, furthering the divide between Jack and his son.

In Monday's episode, Jack was absolutely irate when he found out that Ricky Jr had already offered to support Lily over their child's arrival.

The copper demanded a sit-down with Lily's mum Stacey Slater and stepfather Martin Fowler where he ordered them to convince Lily to have an abortion.

While Denise tried to moderate between the two sides, Sam Mitchell angrily insisted it was Stacey's responsibility to talk Lily out of having the baby.

Stacey refused to comply with their demands, with Martin insisting: "Lily has made her mind up. I know she is young and I don't agree with all of her reasoning, but I ain't about to drag her kicking and screaming down to some abortion clinic.

"So, whether you like it or not, it's off the table."

In spite of Martin's warning, Jack saw his chance to influence events when he ran into Lily all by herself at the cafe later on.

With news of her pregnancy spreading all over school, Lily was particularly vulnerable to Jack's pitch about how she wouldn't want to be a teen mum.

"It seems to be that a lot of people are sugar-coating things for you, making it out that it's going to be easy," Jack told her.

Jack warned Lily that "teenage mums get a lot of stick at school", especially when the babies come. The copper wrongly suggested that it could lead to dropping out of school and not being able to find a decent job.

Later, Stacey and Martin showed up pounding on the Brannings' door to confront Jack for what he'd said to Lily. Martin threatened he wouldn't "hold back" if Jack ever spoke to Lily again.

"It didn't work, by the way," Stacey told him. "She's still having this baby and you lot are having nothing to do with it.

"I mean it. No visits, birthdays, Christmases. You ain't even getting a photo."

Ricky Jr had overheard the conversation and stormed out of the house, though he later returned only to announce he was moving in with Sam.

"If you keep going on like this, you're going to lose everyone," Denise told Jack.

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer.
