The son of missing Ware man Jeffrey Allard – who police said was last seen walking out of Marlborough Hospital the morning of Jan. 22 and has not been seen since – told MassLive he believes his father’s mental state at the time could be part of the reason he’s missing.
Jeffrey Allard, 57, was last seen leaving Marlborough Hospital the morning of Sunday, Jan. 22, according to Massachusetts State Police. The department began assisting Marlborough Police in searching for Allard on Friday, Jan. 27, and State Police said both departments conducted an underwater search in the Sudbury Reservoir in Southborough on Sunday, Jan. 29.
Allard is white, 6 feet, 1 inch tall, and weighs 170 pounds, according to State Police. He wears glasses, has short, brown, curly hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing blue jeans, black shoes and a dark hooded jacket with a Coca-Cola logo on the right side.
According to Google Maps, the Sudbury Reservoir is three miles from Marlborough Hospital. The search, conducted near the Farm Road area of the reservoir, did not locate Allard, nor any evidence regarding his disappearance. The Boston Fire Department Dive Team, Massachusetts Environmental Police and the Marlborough Police and Fire departments also assisted in Sunday’s underwater search, State Police spokesperson David Procopio said.
Kevin Allard, 31, told MassLive his dad went to the hospital last Sunday morning seeking care, at the request of Jeffrey Allard’s wife. He said he thinks his father was depressed and suffering from anxiety.
Kevin Allard said his dad has never gone missing for any stretch of time like this before. He said he previously had his own business fixing cars for 19 years. He recently bought a house in Springfield on the Upper East side, Allard said.
“He loves music. He really loves his wife and family, he likes two Oreo cookies at night. He’s just a good dude ... a very great guy,” Allard said. He said the family is “very tight-knit,” and often went on family vacations together.
Procopio told MassLive on Monday afternoon State Police would not search for Jeffrey Allard that day, but the department would resume searching if it developed any new information to guide officials to search a specific area. He added the Marlborough Police Department should continue to investigate, but offered no other information on the matter.
The Marlborough Police Department did not respond to MassLive for comment as of Monday afternoon.
State Police have urged neighbors of the Farm Road area to check their surveillance footage and doorbell cams for Allard on the day he went missing.
The underwater Sudbury Reservoir search on Sunday included the State Police Marine Unit and its Underwater Recovery Unit, Procopio said, and the State Police already used its Air Wing and K-9 dog Unit in searching for Allard earlier last week in the Farm Road area, where Sudbury Reservoir is located.
