Dangerously cold temperatures move out of New Hampshire; warm-up coming Sunday
Thanks for watching. I'm meteorologist Jacklyn Thomas. Hope you're staying warm out there this weekend. Of course, extreme cold has been filling in as we've headed through the morning into this afternoon. But things are changing now as we head through the rest of the weekend, the worst of the cold is over with. You'll notice that temperatures today got back into the single digits above zero, but look at those lows conquered, reached *** low of negative 15 overnight. Not the record. The record low is negative 24 but it's still extreme cold. It's actually the coldest morning that we've had for the capital since January 2nd back in 2018 when the temperature reached 19 degrees below zero. And we did break *** record from Mount Washington for *** wind chill of negative 109 degrees this morning. The previous record was negative 103. Back in 2004, the unofficial record across the country is NEGA of 105. So Mount Washington has even broken that satellite and radar though quiet, we've got some clouds overhead and we're going to continue to see some clouds as we head into the day on Sunday, but we will remain dry as we head through the rest of the weekend overnight. Tonight, temperatures not nearly as cold as what we had last night. Thankfully, we'll actually see temperatures rising as we head into Sunday. So some single digits above zero, far south and then some single digits below zero as you head far north with some clouds overhead. Now, the wind chill is not nearly going to be as bad either. These winds continue to die down through the evening to and then tomorrow, look at the highs how quickly we rebound back above freezing for most of the state thirties and even some forties possible tomorrow afternoon. And again, those wind chills not going to be much of an issue. We're not going to see anything as extreme as what we had been getting wind chills in the single digits and t means through the morning, but through the afternoon and evening, not much of *** wind chill factor to deal with maybe just *** few degrees. And these milder temperatures stick around as we head into the new week. You'll notice that highs throughout much of next week will be in the thirties and even the forties. So these milder temperatures last these next several days. No other big shots of cold air in sight and no major storms in sight to just *** few mixed showers possible at points during the week.
