The University of Alabama extended an offer to 2025 in-state quarterback K.J. Lacey on Sunday. The sophomore received the offer after his second visit to Tuscaloosa on Saturday.

The dual threat quarterback from Saraland High School in Alabama threw for 40 touchdowns last season, with 24 going to Crimson Tide commit, four-star wide receiver Ryan Williams. Lacey threw four touchdown passes to Williams in their 38-17 win in the AHSAA 6A State Championship.

At six-feet, 180 pounds, Lacey has drawn comparisons to future top-10 NFL draft pick Bryce Young in more ways than one.

Most of Lacey's highlights involve him throwing on the run, one of Young's most dominant traits. Lacey's ability to quickly run outside of the pocket and accurately make short and medium throws over the middle is an underrated talent.

Lacey's deep ball is also jaw-dropping. He sometimes left the pocket too early his freshman year when launching it 50-plus yards. However, he showed signs of maturity his sophomore year by staying relaxed in the pocket and effortlessly floating the ball from one 25-yard line to the other.

Like Young, Lacey quickly dispelled the stereotype that you often have to run the ball to be considered a dual threat quarterback. In his highlight reel, Lacey shows one long rushing touchdown. The ability to quickly and consistently move outside of the pocket, evade pass rushers and make a play is what makes Lacey a true dual threat.
