NASHVILLE, Tenn.--The average price of gas in Tennessee is now $3.28 per gallon, 43 cents more expensive than just one month ago according to auto club group AAA.
AAA's report finds gas prices in the state jumped by 13 cents in the past week and is the most expensive per gallon average since mid-November.
Despite the hikes, Tennessee is still the 11th-cheapest in the country. The lowest prices in the state can be found in Knoxville ($3.18), Morristown ($3.19), and Kingsport ($3.23).
The highest prices are found in Nashville ($3.35), Cleveland ($3.32), and Clarksville ($3.30).
AAA spokesperson Megan Cooper says continued upward pressure in the oil market due to increased demand and higher global prices are behind the hikes, adding "It's difficult to predict when increasing prices across the state will come to an end, but as we head into this week it's likely that Tennesseans will continue to see fluctuating prices at the pump."
