Patrick Mahomes Sr. had plenty to say after the Chiefs AFC Championship win over the Bengals on Sunday night.

The Bengals talked all week, as Eli Apple and Co.’s new name for Arrowhead Stadium blew up in their face. After the Chiefs win on Sunday, they had every right to talk back. In fact, they earned the right to do so.

While Patrick Mahomes kept it classy, the likes of Chris Jones, Travis Kelce and more were not as mum on the subject. Kelce and Jones scoffed at the thought of ‘Burrowhead’, while Thornhill smoked his Eli Apple pack after the game.

While Mahomes himself didn’t say anything on the subject, one of his family members sure did. Patrick Mahomes, Sr. gave reporters the soundbite they were looking for.

Sweet justice.

Chiefs do plenty of talking after beating Bengals

The Bengals supplied Kansas City with plenty of bulletin-board material, as if they weren’t motivated enough at a chance to reach the Super Bowl. While motivation can only go so far, Cincinnati’s players and even its mayor gave the Chiefs plenty of ammo.

After the game, they used it all.

The contest itself was a close one, as the Chiefs won, 23-20, on a game-winning kick by Harrison Butker. Kansas City will go back to the Super Bowl for the first time since losing to Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers just a few years ago.

Mahomes himself is hobbled, but will have two weeks to heal up after suffering a high ankle sprain against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round.

Joe Burrow and the Bengals learned a valuable lesson on Sunday — don’t talk smack until the ultimate goal is accomplished. Kansas City kept their mouth shut all week, only to let loose once Butker’s field goal went through the uprights.
