Man found dead inside burning recreational vehicle in San Fernando

SAN FERNANDO (CNS) - A man was found dead today inside a recreational vehicle damaged by a fire in San Fernando.

Firefighters sent to the 600 block of North Hagar Street at 4:58 a.m. extinguished the flames in 25 minutes, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

"LAFD Firefighters arrived quickly to find a recreational vehicle parked in the rear yard of a single family home well involved with fire, the intense flames threatening an adjacent garage converted to living quarters, and a (14-foot by 15-foot) tool shed," an LAFD statement said.

"Three persons in the converted garage were able to escape unharmed," the LAFD said. "Firefighters also prevented flames from damaging the primary occupied home on the property. In fully extinguishing the burning RV ... firefighters discovered the remains of an adult male within the vehicle."

Information was not immediately available on the man's identity or cause of death. No other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire was under investigation. The investigation was being conducted by the LAFD and the San Fernando Police Department.
