Portland Fire & Rescue fought a fire in icy, cold conditions in the Albina neighborhood early Monday morning.
Crews arrived at the scene shortly before 2 a.m. after receiving calls of a residential fire. The firefighters saw heavy fire coming from the back of the home, and called in a second alarm.
PF&R says the fire was under control around 20 minutes after their arrival, with crews remaining to remove smoke and water.
The 8 adults living in the residence were displaced but uninjured.
Investigators remained on the scene to determine the cause.
Portland Fire & Rescue urged the public to be aware of safe home heating methods when it's very cold. This includes keeping flammable things away from portable heaters, as well as not using extension cords to power any portable heater.
