WALKER, La. (BRPROUD) – A Livingston Parish man was killed in an early Monday morning crash on LA 449.
The victim was identified as Corey Bennett, 46, of Walker. Investigators said Bennett was driving south in a 2011 BMW Z4 when the crash took place in Livingston Parish.
The BMW was the only vehicle involved in the crash. State Police said Bennett was unable to stay on LA 449 and his vehicle ended up in a canal.
“Upon entering the canal, Bennett’s vehicle struck a tree and became partially submerged,” according to the Louisiana State Police.
Bennett was wearing a seat belt when the crash took place but was still thrown from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are awaiting toxicology results. The investigation into this deadly crash remains ongoing.
