College football is in a great place with how many talented quarterbacks are returning in 2023.

Despite losing potentially four first-rounders to the 2023 NFL Draft, college football is in good hands at the quarterback position anyway.

Some returned to school because they wanted to get better. Others, well, maybe a few of them did not have a choice in the matter. Regardless, they are all chasing the same thing, which is an opportunity to play for a College Football Playoff National Championship. Georgia remains an absolute buzzsaw, but even the Dawgs will have to make a change at the quarterback position.

These are the best returning quarterbacks in college football, as well as a few honorable mentions.

Honorable Mentions: Jayden Daniels (LSU), Dillon Gabriel (Oklahoma), Devin Leary (Kentucky), Cam Rising (Utah), Will Rogers (Mississippi State)

College football: 10 best returning quarterbacks heading into the 2023 season

Grayson McCall opted to stay put at Coastal Carolina after Jamey Chadwell bailed

While Grayson McCall did enter the transfer portal, he decided to play in Coastal Carolina’s bowl game anyway before opting to return to the Chanticleers. Although his former head coach Jamey Chadwell left Conway, South Carolina for Liberty, there are plenty of reasons to get behind the toughest barnyard animals you will ever come across. McCall will make so Coastal Carolina proud.

The Sun Belt superstar is one of the best and most accomplished quarterbacks in the Group of Five. Though his NFL Draft stock did take a hit last season, he could see it trending back to good in 2023, now playing for former North Carolina State offensive coordinator Tim Beck. Across the board, you will not find a more seasoned starting quarterback who has stayed at the same school.

Given that he has been on our radar for quite a while, McCall has an outside shot at contending for major trophies during awards season. The best thing he can do is take it game by game, proving to everyone Coastal Carolina is a program here to stay. If this team wins double-digit games, McCall will probably be a day-two pick in 2024. The Group of Five is his oyster for this upcoming season.

If any Sun Belt team were to ever win the Group of Five, why not McCall’s Coastal Carolina squad?
