FIVE NEWS. SUJI, THANK YOU. AND RIGHT NOW IN SOUTHERN PALM BEACH COUNTY, AFTER CLOSE TO TWO YEARS OF CONSTRUCTION, THE NEW DIVERGING DIAMOND INTERCHANGE OPENED THIS AFTERNOON. AT GLADES ROAD AND I-95 IN BOCA RATON, OUR ANGELA ROZIER JOINS US LIVE FROM THAT INTERCHANGE WHERE DRIVERS ARE ALREADY USING AT THIS AFTERNOON. AND THAT’S RIGHT, MADE ITS DEBUT JUST BEFORE 3:00 THIS AFTERNOON. I SAW SOMEONE WITH A THUMBS UP AS DRIVERS HERE, KEEP THEIR FINGERS CROSSED AND HOPE FOR LESS CONGESTED COMMUTE. YOU’RE LOOKING AT THE FIRST VEHICLES TO USE THE NEW HIGHWAY INTERCHANGE THAT LINKS GLADES ROAD TO INTERSTATE 95 SIDE. AND THAT’S GOOD FOR DRIVERS WHO TRAVEL ALONG THIS BOCA RATON INTERSECTION WEEKLY. THE TRACK IS FOR ROAD LIKE IS RIDICULOUS, ESPECIALLY AROUND IT’S TIME TO GET OUT OF SCHOOL AND THE CAR RULES, ACCORDING TO FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, THE NEW INTERCHANGE WILL NOT ONLY EASE CONGESTION, IT WILL ALSO PROVIDE SAFER ACCESS TO AND FROM I-95 GLADES ROAD TO A HEAVILY CONGESTED ROADWAY. WE’RE TRYING TO HELP MANAGE THAT AND IMPROVE THAT OVERALL, THIS WILL ALLOW US TO BE ABLE TO HAVE BETTER MANAGEMENT OF THAT CONGESTION AND HOPEFULLY IMPROVE THE RIDE OVERALL FOR ALL DRIVERS, OFFICIALS SAY THE NEW INTERCHANGE WILL ALSO LIMIT THE NUMBER OF TRAFFIC SIGNALS AND ALLOW DRIVERS TO MAKE A LEFT TURN WITHOUT CROSSING IN FRONT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. FDOT T FACED A FEW ROADBLOCK BEFORE MONDAY’S DEBUT. CREWS HAD TO DEAL WITH SOME WET WEATHER EARLIER AND WAIT FOR THE ROAD TO DRY BEFORE THEY COULD REPLACE THE REFLECTIVE PAVEMENT. FDOT OFFICIALS UNDERSTAND CHANGING TRAFFIC PATTERNS CAN CAUSE CONFUSION FOR DRIVERS, BUT THEY WILL HAVE TROOPERS AND ACTUAL SIGNS AND REFLECTORS TO HELP. I JUST ENCOURAGE EVERYONE AS THEY APPROACH THE INTERCHANGES TO REALLY FOLLOW THE STRIPING ON THE ROADWAY AS WELL AS THE SIGNAGE THAT’S IN PLACE TO REALLY GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE INTERCHANGE. AND IF YOU FOLLOW THOSE AND YOU PROTEST AT THE SPEED LIMIT AT 35 MILES PER HOUR, YOU’LL BE ABLE TO GET TO THE INTERCHANGE. IT’S GOING TO BE DANGEROUS, BUT I THINK IS GREAT TO SAY TIME. AND AGAIN, FDOT OFFICIALS UNDERSTAND THAT THIS TRAFFIC PATTERN COULD BE CONFUSING FOR SOME DRIVERS. AND AGAIN, THEY HAVE STATE TROOPERS OUT HERE KEEPING AN EYE OUT IF THERE ARE ANY ISSUES. REPORTING LIVE IN BOCA RATO
