The new "diverging diamond" interchange opened Monday afternoon in Boca Raton.
The area has been under construction for a year as crews change how the flow of traffic maneuvers.

The goal of the project is to reduce the number of traffic signals and allow drivers to make a left turn without crossing in front of oncoming traffic. The Florida Department of Transportation aims to improve the overall safety and efficiency of the interchange while providing safer access to and from Interstate 95.
While changes to I-95, especially in a busy area like this, can cause confusion for drivers, FDOT has measures in place to ensure a smooth transition. Troopers will be present at the site, and extra signs and reflectors will be added to aid drivers.
Trinity Bullen travels at that intersection on a regular basis and said traffic can be busy.
"The traffic is horrible," Bullen said. "It's ridiculous especially when it's time to get out of school."
Bullen is looking forward to a less congested commute.
"Glades road is a heavily congested roadway. We are trying to help manage that and improve it overall. This will allow us to have better management of the congestion and hopefully improve the ride for all drivers," Matt Carlock, the District 4 construction engineer, said.
