Central Florida kicks off ‘Best Foot Forward’ campaign to help improve pedestrian safety

ORLANDO, Fla. — Local law enforcement officers are on the lookout for drivers who do not yield to pedestrians.

Operation “Best Foot Forward” will start up again Monday morning.

Drivers who do not stop for undercover officers in plain clothes will be fined a minimum of $164.

Statistics show that more than 50% of drivers in Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties fail to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks within a quarter mile of schools.

They will also get three points on their driver’s license.

The operation will continue through Feb. 10.
