A man is dead after a domestic-related stabbing in Fairfax County, authorities said.
Just before 10 p.m., officers responded to an apartment in the 7900 block of Janna Lee Avenue Sunday night, Lt. James Curry, a Fairfax County police spokesperson said.
Curry said they got a call from a teenager stating that his mother was being assaulted by her boyfriend and that the teenage boy stabbed the boyfriend.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found 32-year-old Marcus Roberson, of Washington D.C., suffering stab wounds to the upper body. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
Detectives learned that Roberson was visiting the apartment when a verbal argument escalated into an assault.
Following the incident, the teen was taken into custody as a person of interest. Detectives interviewed the boy and released him to his mother with no charges.
Detectives are investigating the possibility this is a "justifiable homicide." The department will discuss this with the Office of the Fairfax Commonwealth’s Attorney to determine if charges will be filed.
There were three other children inside the apartment that were unharmed. The woman was treated at the scene for injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.
