Marcus Brimage had another rough night at BKFC 35

‘The Bama Beast’ returned to action on January 27, hoping to secure a win for the first time since 2014. Unfortunately for him, Trevor Loken had other plans and won his BKFC debut by knocking out Brimage in 40 seconds. The 37-year-old now holds a BKFC record of 0-1-1 after signing with the bare-knuckle promotion in 2021.

Brimage was once a prospect in the UFC featherweight division before everything started to fall apart. The Colorado native held a 2-0 promotional record in 2013, leading him to be matched up against Conor McGregor for his UFC debut. ‘The Notorious’ entered the fight with a lot of hype and left with even more after winning in 67 seconds.

Brimage extended his combat sports winless streak to seven at BKFC 35. ‘The Bama Beast’ signed with the UFC in 2011 after competing on The Ultimate Fighter Season 14. He fought in the UFC eight times, establishing a record of 4-4, before parting ways with the promotion in 2015. The Colorado native then lost three fights on the MMA regional scene, which led to him signing with Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.

“Damn!!!! Wasn’t my night tonight. No excuses. Congrats to my opponent. Back to the drawing board. Thanks to all those who supported during camp. I’ll be back, definitely.👊🏿”

Two other UFC veterans joined Marcus Brimage by losing at BKFC 35

Marcus Brimage wasn’t the only former UFC fighter to lose at BKFC 35. In the co-main event, Justin Scoggins made his promotional debut in the fight of the night against Keith Richardson. Although Scoggins didn’t win, he made a statement with a gusty performance showing he has a future in bare-knuckle.

Meanwhile, Yosdenis Cedeno fought in the main event against Gorjan Slaveski after starting his BKFC tenure with two wins. Cedeno had his moments but ultimately lost in the fourth round, advancing Slaveski’s promotional record to 5-0.

Although BKFC 35 wasn’t a good example, there are former UFC fighters that have found success in BKFC, including Alan Belcher, Johnny Bedford, Joey Beltran, and Mike Perry.
