Now, that was fun! We saw a Philadelphia Eagles win coming, but we’ll be honest. We didn’t see a 31-7 showing. With that, the Birds punch their ticket to Glendale, Arizona as the representatives of the National Football Conference. Regardless of what happens two weeks from now in Super Bowl LVII, let’s hope that the unnecessary angst that has been shown toward Jonathan Gannon will end. It seemingly has to some extent… for now.

Following another dominating postseason performance by his unit, its second in as many weeks, there seems to be a growing contingent. Fans who wanted to run him out of town are now accepting of his importance. The Eagles probably aren’t in the Super Bowl without him.

Wait! Did Jonathan Gannon just confirm that he’s staying in Philadelphia with the Eagles?

J.G. has been a hot topic around NFL circles as a possible head coach in waiting. Some believe he’s out of here at season’s end regardless of when it comes.

We don’t own any horses, but this seems like it would be a good time to hold on to them if we did. There’s no better source than the source, and Gannon seems to be happy with where he is currently.

What do you think? Believable? Emotional? Maybe he just doesn’t want to cause any distractions. Whatever the case, that sounds like confirmation that Gannon isn’t going anywhere.

Now, let’s flip the coin and look at the other side. The last thing that the Eagles need right now is distractions. Having a story floating around that your DC is out at the season’s end definitely qualifies as such. J.G. is a smart guy. He most certainly understands that.

He could be serious about what he’s saying. He could be playing the media’s game. We know the Houston Texans have shown interest in him more than once. We also know that the only constant in the NFL is the knowledge that things will change, especially in one’s mind.

Don’t be shocked if Jonathan Gannon is back in 2023, but don’t be surprised if he’s on another sideline. Time will tell, but first things first. The Eagles have a Super Bowl to go win. We’ll put an asterisk on this one and revisit it later.
