SANTA ROSA COUNTY, Fla. -- Six high schools and seven middle school Honor Bands from across Santa Rosa County came together for a concert on Saturday.
The students started rehearsing for the concert last week.
Back in November, students from schools in Santa Rosa County auditioned for a chance to be in the Honor Band.
The piece the high school students performed had never been performed before and is a tribute to a former UWF professor.
"It was supposed to premiere back in 87-88 by the T.R. Miller High School band at a conference up in Troy but it snowed, so everything got cancelled," Santa Rosa County Instrumental Coordinator Gray Weaver said. "So this piece has never been performed. So since 1987, that piece has sat in a library and never been performed by a band but it's a tribute to Mr. Gene Gonzalez."
The concert was held at Pace Assembly ministries on Highway 90.
