Bring It On star Gabrielle Union has teased a potential sequel for the hit cheerleader film that could potentially bring back the original cast.

Bring It On was released in 2000 and followed a group of high-school cheerleaders that find out their previous captain stole all of their routines from another school and have to conjure up their own routine in order to compete at the year's championships.

Now, Union has talked about a potential sequel in an interview with Variety.

"We’ve been developing a sequel forever," Union said. "But for folks who don’t exactly understand how long development can take in Hollywood, that could be five minutes or 50 years."

So, there is still no clear plan or schedule for a sequel — so it could be a long, long way off still. Currently, there are five direct-to-video sequels and a Halloween TV special but none of those projects feature the original cast.

Dunst did, however, say that she'd be up for a sequel herself. "If [the original creators] wanted to make another movie, I would make another movie. Why not? It'd be so fun," she said in 2019.

The original movie was directed by Ant-Man director Peyton Reed. It is unknown if he would be coming back for a sequel or if he would be too busy with Marvel duties.

Union recently starred in Disney's Strange World, which underperformed at the box office ahead of its streaming debut on Disney+. Union spoke about the film's underperformance in a December interview.

"I don’t know [why it underperformed], I think people get comfortable watching things at home," Union said.
