AND HIT A CAR IN THE PROCESS. IT STARTED ON MARTIN LUTHER KING JUNIOR BOULEVARD - WHEN A TROOPER WITH GEORGIA STATE PATROL TRIED TO PULL OVER THE DRIVER OF A DODGE CHARGER. At one point during the chase, GSP said the driver hit another person's vehicle. They said the driver also caused damage to a trooper's windshield.

The search is on for a driver who led troopers on a high-speed chase through Savannah on Saturday.The chase began when troopers tried to conduct a traffic stop on a red Dodge Charger on MLK Jr. Blvd. near Oglethorpe Ave. on Saturday night. At one point, Georgia State Patrol said the driver of the Charger hit another car in the rear with its front while in the left turn lane. The driver then accelerated, pushing the car out of its way. GSP said the driver then did a U-turn, and the pursuit continued south on MLK Jr. Blvd. and onto I-16 west.According to GSP, the driver of the charger drove in a reckless manner. GSP said they traveled at a high rate of speed and passed cars on the shoulder.The pursuit continued onto I-95 north, according to GSP. A trooper attempted a PIT Maneuver at mile marker 103, however, the driver was able to recover and tried to exit onto the off-ramp for Airways Avenue. GSP said the driver of the charger instead traveled back onto I-95 north, kicking up debris and damaging one of the pursuing Trooper's windshield.According to GSP, the driver of the charger quickly applied the brakes and drove through the soft median on the west shoulder onto I-95 south. The driver then exited onto Pooler Parkway.To avoid getting stuck in the median, GSP said troopers had to find a safer turn around a short distance from where the charger traveled through the median. Units ended up losing sight of the charger and the pursuit was discontinued.
