The NFL’s hiring cycle spun around again on Sunday as the Miami Dolphins made a huge splash. The Dolphins hired Vic Fangio to be the team’s next defensive coordinator.

NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero tweeted, “The Dolphins have agreed to terms with Vic Fangio on a deal that makes him the NFL’s highest-paid coordinator, per sources. It’s a 3-year deal with a 4th-year team option. Fangio, the former Broncos coach, is one of football’s best defensive minds. Huge get for Mike McDaniel.”

Fangio might have flamed out as a head coach, but his coordinating prowess is still massive. He ranks as one of the best coordinators on either side of the ball in the NFL right now. So the Dolphins made an absolutely huge hire to try and improve their defense.

The Dolphins let go of coordinator Josh Boyer and other coaches earlier this month.

With Fangio’s addition, Miami is about to have one fearsome defense. The NFL world reacted to the huge hire after it was reported.

NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe tweeted, “Mike McDaniel has had Vic Fangio as a top target to run his defense since before he started as Dolphins head coach.” So this was in the works in his head for a while for Miami.

One Dolphins fan considered Fangio as “perhaps the best DC in football.”

Another Dolphin fan was unbelievably ecstatic.

And former lineman Kyle Long bluntly said, “Vic Fangio deserves to be the highest-paid coordinator rin my opinion.”
